YERZHAN TOKTAROV, A LEADER OF THE LABOUR LAW PRACTICE, DELIVERED A PRESENTATION ON THE APPLICATION OF NON-COMPETE AGREEMENTS IN KAZAKHSTAN

On 19 April 2019, Park Inn by Radisson Astana Hotel hosted the Astana Legal Forum 2019 with an array of sessions focusing on such areas of law as dispute resolution, antitrust law, tax and customs law, labour law, subsoil use, environment protection and public-private partnership.

SZP Senior Associate Yerzhan Toktarov, a leader of the Firm’s labour law practice, delivered a presentation on how to execute non-compete agreements with employees and how to make them accountable for breach of such agreements.  The presentation covered the key challenges faced by employers in practice and the ways of their solution.

The topic of particular interest was an overview of Kazakhstan judicial opinions about the legitimacy of non-compete restrictions imposed on employees and the employees’ accountability for their breach.  Yerzhan also provided practical guidance on how to handle such issues.
