SZP Partners Addressing the XI Forum of Corporate Lawyers in Almaty
On 3-4 November 2016, Holiday Inn Almaty hosted the XI Kazakhstan Forum of Corporate Lawyers focusing on the legal protection of businesses in turbulent environment.
This year the Forum featured the following SZP partners:
Managing Partner Vitaliy Vodolazkin once again moderated the Litigation session where he presented his report Jurisdiction over Investment Disputes raising the issues of the legal protection of investors and the new jurisdiction of the Astana City Court and Kazakhstan Supreme Court over investment disputes.
Partner Arman Berdalin moderated the Corporate Law and Corporate Governancesession the participants of which briskly and productively discussed the expectations of business (based, primarily, on the English law concepts) and the specifics of Kazakhstan law. Arman’s presentation focused on the facilitation of relationship between shareholders, including the difficulties of deadlock resolution under Kazakhstan law.
Partner Amir Begdesenov presented his report Collaborative Economy and Antitrust Regulation. Collaborative platforms gain popularity all over the world. Recently, Kazakhstan blocked access to InDriver mobile application. In his presentation Amir expanded on the Russian and EU experience in the regulation of similar online aggregators.
Over 11 years the Forum of Corporate Lawyers has been an annual pinnacle event for Kazakhstan lawyers attended by managing partners of leading Kazakhstan and international law firms, legal practitioners and attorneys, in-house lawyers and legal executives from commercial banks, consulting and audit firms, as well as government officials and judicial authorities of Kazakhstan. Over all these years the Forum gathered over 1,000 participants, including 300 speakers. The Forum participants discussed over 400 relevant topics.
