Successful Presentation of SZP Partners at the XII Kazakhstan Forum of Corporate Lawyers
On 2-3 November 2017, the Almaty Holiday Inn hosted the XII Kazakhstan Forum of Corporate Lawyers in which SZP partners took active participation.
The Forum was devoted to the forthcoming developments in Kazakhstan legislation expected in 2018 and other issues connected with the changes in litigation and arbitration procedures, efficient debt recovery, criminal law protection of business, as well as corporate and labour laws.
In the course of the Forum, Vitaliy Vodolazkin, SZP Managing Partner moderated the session titled as Changes in Litigation and Arbitration: Judicial and Arbitration Disputes. SZP Partner Arman Berdalin moderated the session titled as Corporate Law: Enforcement and Judicial Practice.
Partner Amir Begdesenov presented to the participants of the Trade and Retail session his report Revealing Cartels in Kazakhstan (in Russian); Partner Yelena Tyureikina delivered to the participants of the Forthcoming Developments in Kazakhstan Legislation Expected in 2018 her presentation Draft New Tax Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan: Overview of the Key Changes Coming into Effect from 1 January 2018; and Senior Associate Yerzhan Toktarov presented to the participants of the Labour Law and Labour Dispute ssession his report Major Challenges Concerning Mediation Committees.
The past Forum applied an innovative approach to discussions at the wrap-up sessions, so-called “no name discussions” which allowed for real-life case studies without mentioning any corporate or individual names. The participating counsels, judges and in-house lawyers considered the most challenging cases, discussed them and got answers to the raised concerns.
Kazakhstan Forum of Corporate Lawyers has been an annual pinnacle event for Kazakhstan lawyers for over 12 years. The Forum has been attracting a steadily growing interest and number of participants. The past Forum was attended by partners of leading Kazakhstan and international law firms, representatives of Kazakhstan government executive and judicial authorities and Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, as well as legal executives from commercial banks, consulting and audit firms. Over all these years the Forum gathered over 1,000 participants, including 300 speakers. The Forum participants discussed over 400 relevant topics.
