NEWLY APPOINTED SZP COUNSEL YERZHAN TOKTAROV AS A NEW HEAD OF THE FIRM’S LABOUR LAW PRACTICE
The Board of Partners of Sayat Zholshy & Partners has promoted Yerzhan Toktarov to counsel. As a member of Dmitriy Chumakov’s team, Yerzhan will head the Firm’s labour law practice and further develop the compliance practice.
Yerzhan started his professional career in 2007 as a lawyer in Sayat Zholshy & Partners. In 2008, he graduated from the Almaty Academy of Law with highest distinction.
Yerzhan advises clients on the most challenging labour issues, drafts documents, and represents employers in court actions initiated by former employees seeking reinstatement in work and various compensations. In 2016-2017, on the instruction of a major West-Kazakhstan power company, Yerzhan conducted comprehensive legal due diligence of their HR documentation. Yerzhan also took part in the most substantial and complicated projects connected with the issuance of foreign employment permits.
In 2013, he worked as a member of the team drafting the Kazakhstan Law On Licenses and Notices, the fundamental document regulating all licensing and authorisation issues in Kazakhstan.
Yerzhan is actively involved in all family law projects, in particular, dissolution of marriages, prenuptial agreements and marriage contracts, division of marital property, child custody/communication settlements, inheritance, etc.
He has gained extensive experience in reviewing Clients’ draft agreements/contracts and preparing legal opinions on various legal issues. He often appears before courts and arbitration tribunals in civil matters, and defends Clients in administrative proceedings.
Yerzhan has been a member of the Almaty City Bar since June 2019.
In 2021, he completed internship at Almaty city courts where he grasped the specifics of civil, criminal, administrative and appellate proceedings.
Yerzhan’s promotion to Counsel – along with the earlier launched collaboration with Counsel Ainur Nadirova – is a further reinforcement of the Firm’s labour law team deemed to have high growth potential.
